October Wrap Up!

October was a really great for me, I went on a cruise, I went to four different countries and I read a total of five books in just the week I was on the cruise. I read 12 books in total! In this wrap up I will be talking about them in the order of least liked to most.

This month’s ratings:

The Gift by Terri Blackstock (1 star)

I just didn’t like this book at all. If I could rate something zero stars I would but I guess I’m giving it a star for being so short that I wouldn’t need to be miserable for as long.

Retrieval (3.5 stars)

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would! I loved the pacing of the story and the plot for the most part.

I didn’t rate it a whole 4 stars because I couldn’t really connect with the characters and it honestly just seemed like a sub par lifetime movie.

Bird box (3.75 stars)

I really liked how original this book was but I didn’t rate it a full 4 stars because towards the end if started to drag way too much and it just got confusing.

The distance between lost and found (4 stars)

This was such a creative story. The only problems I had with it is that the character weren’t really fleshed out and the story had gotten slow at times.

I’ll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios (4 stars)

I liked this more than I thought, it had a really compelling plot and really great characters (for the most part). I only gave it 4 stars because the main male love interest annoyed me SO much. He said some very bigoted things in the beginning of the novel and I was just never able to forgive him for that. But I would still recommend it despite this minor flaw.

5 to 1 by Holly Bodger  (4 stars)

I’m not going to say anything about this because I have a review up for it. So if you would like to check that out click here.

The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver (4 stars)

Despite the mixed reviews I really enjoyed this. It was one of the best YA thrillers I’ve ever read and it also has a great story line.

The Dead List by Jennifer L. Armentrout (4 stars)

Since it’s the Halloween season, I googled “books like the scream movies” (my favorite horror movie franchise) and The Dead List came up multiple times. Since this book is just on wattpad it’s not as well known as her other novels.

This book is very reminiscent of the classic horror movies that everyone loves (Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer) while still remaining mostly original.

The Merciless II: The Exorcism of Sofia Flores by Danielle Vega (4 stars)

Since this was the first book I read this month I’ve honestly don’t remember too much about it but I can say that I really enjoyed it and I even liked it more than the first.

The Barrier Between by Stacey Marie Brows

Something in Between by Melissa De La Cruz (5 stars)

This is Contemporary Corner’s book of the month for October. I won’t be saying to much about my thoughts on this since I also have a mini review up for this one. So click here to read more of my thoughts.

We Are All Made of Molecules by Susin Nielsen (5 stars)

I have a review for this one as well so click here if you would like to check that out!

Well that’s it for all the books I read in October, I think I did pretty good and I’m pretty proud of myself! Recently I’ve been setting a goal to read more books that I own rather than just books I find at the library and this month I read 7 books that I own and only 3 that I don’t!

What did you read this month? Let me know in the comments below!
